2nd Annual Glass Art Conference and Cruise: January 8th, 2011
The KBW Art Glass Educational Foundation will be sponsoring the second national one-week, art glass conference to be held on the new ship Eclipse. On January 8th, 2011, this elegant cruise ship sails roundtrip from Miami, Florida to five ports. The 7 Night Western Caribbean Cruise Ports: George Town, Grand Cayman; Cozumel, Mexico; Puerto Costa Maya, Mexico; and Roatan, Honduras.
Workshops and glass lectures will feature PowerPoint presentations, demonstrations, and will be presented by nationally renowned glass artists. In addition, some of the special events planned will be panel discussions, networking, and cocktail parties.
If you love glass, you will enjoy the camaraderie and getting acquainted with Glass authors, retailers, publishers, instructors, manufacturers, glass artists, hobbyists and art glass lovers from all over the country. The glass conference is open to everyone from novice to experienced glass artist. Lectures and presentations will include Internet Marketing, glass enameling, art clay silver, painting on glass, wire wrapping jewelry, publishing your work and more.
Celebrity cruise line in collaboration with the Corning Museum of Glass has created a history making first: a glass-blowing studio with a surrounding amphitheater at sea. The Eclipse features an exciting hot glass show presentation that takes place three to four times a day. The ship’s décor is highlighted by an important art collection. The focus of the ship is glass art, with cast glass dividers, glass walls and ceilings, sand blasted glass elevator doors, and hand-blown and cast colorful vessels and sculptures of all sizes and shapes. In the atrium, located midship, dramatic glass stairs, accentuated underneath by green neon lighting. There’s even a gift shop on board that markets exquisite glass pieces. The Eclipse offers a wide assortment of accommodations to suit every budget.
